this limited collection vase is a one of a kind piece. it is hand-built using slabs over the course of many hours and fired outside in a kiln fueled by the natural wood-fire process.
during the firing process, we continually add wood to the (outdoor) kiln to increase its temperature - This causes a natural fluctuation in temperature, reminiscent of waves, as the wood releases gases that burn off and circulate throughout the kiln. These gases, ash and open flame create texture and color on each piece that is entirely dependent to where it is in the kiln and what other pieces were surrounding it.
this piece has an exposed bottom, where there was some smooth "flashing" (exposure to open flame) and textured interaction with ash - resulting in a beautiful copper variation. The glazed portion is an organic crackle with some lovely grey crystallization.
this piece has two openings in the shape of leaves • measuring 7" x 3.25" and 5.25"x 4" with a overall width of 8.75"
this piece can not be replicated.
